BayCare Clinic’s CMO, Dr. Paul Summerside, Offers Input to Help Shape U.S. Health Policies and Wellness Strategies

BayCare Clinic's Chief Medical Officer, Paul Summerside, MD, MMM, recently attended an Institute of Medicine (IOM) Committee on Valuing Community-Based, Non-Clinical Prevention Policies and Wellness Strategies meeting.

At this Committee meeting, held on September 19, 2011 at The Pew Conference Center in Washington, D.C., Dr. Summerside provided public testimony on what he thinks should be included in U.S. non-clinical prevention policies and wellness strategies.  Of specific target is the prevention of long-term chronic diseases.

The 18 month Committee project started in March, 2011.This meeting was the second of three scheduled meetings; the last meeting is on December 5, 2011, also in Washington DC.  A report is expected to be issued at the conclusion of 18 months.

The committee sponsors are the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, California Endowment, deBeaumont Foundation, and the WK Kellogg Foundation
