BayCare Clinic Neuropsychology is one of BayCare Clinic’s medical specialties providing high quality care. We evaluate patients throughout Northeast Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula including Green Bay, Appleton, and the Fox Cities.
In clinical Neuropsychology, brain function is evaluated by objectively testing memory and thinking skills. Testing is usually recommended when there are changes in concentration, organization, reasoning, memory, language, perception, coordination, or personality due to any number of medical, neurological, psychological, or genetic causes. Our patients include those suffering from:
• Memory problems • Attention problems such as ADHD • Concussion and head trauma • Stroke • Seizures or epilepsy • Brain Tumors • Parkinson’s disease • Multiple sclerosis • Alzheimer’s disease • Dementia • Depression • Anxiety disorders
Patient test scores will be compared to a database of scores from large groups of healthy people. The Neuropsychologist typically compares patient scores to healthy individuals of the same age and education (when appropriate). The evaluation may:
• Provide a diagnosis or confirm a diagnosis.
• Provide a profile of strengths and weaknesses to guide treatment plans which may involve rehabilitation, medication recommendations, or counseling.
• Document changes in function, including effects of treatment or disease.
• Recommend compensatory strategies ("work-around solutions") that would help given weaknesses on the exam.
Result in referrals to other specialists, such as therapists, cognitive rehabilitation professionals, neurologists, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, special education teachers, or vocational counselors.
When an individual experiences difficulties or changes in thinking, memory, speech, personality, or other behaviors which are significant enough to interfere with normal daily routines, a neuropsychological evaluation may be indicated.
